Structural intergrity check of a two-story stadium in Agia Paraskevi, Athens

Structural integrity is the study of the safe design and assessment of components and structures under load, and has become increasingly important in engineering design. It integrates aspects of stress analysis, materials behaviour and the mechanics of failure into the engineering design process. During this study, the following actions took place:

a) Collection of required data (building permits, plans from the initial structural study of the building, architectural plans, etc.).
b) Autopsy in the building and comparison of the actual structural with the nominal plans.
c) Laboratory tests regarding the concrete’s condition.
d) Model simulation and structural integrity checks.
e) Detailed presentation for the evaluation of the structural integrity of the building and proposals for its reinforcement.
