Hydraulic study of Dolianitis - Saradaporos streams

This study focuses of analyzing the events that led to the floods of 25-26 June 2016.

The study focuses of the floods that occured during 25th and 26th of July, 2016 around Dolianitis and Saradaporos streams in the municipality of Tripolis. In particular, the following tasks were completed:

a) Estimation of the return period of the specific rainfall event. Because the return period is defined as the yearly period in which the phenomenon re-occurs on average, if the specific rainfall that caused the floods occurs with a return period of more than 50 years, then the event is characterized as extreme, otherwise as normal.

b) Assess the efficiency of current flood protection works (i.e. channel levees).

c) Assess the efficiency of current floodplain works.

d) Assess whether the disasters of properties could have been avoided if the aforemention flood prevention works were maintained in their original shape and if both streams were clear of debris.
